Western Dressage News from New York – Summer 2012!

Western Dressage of New York

While waiting for our pending Affiliate Status to move forward, Western Dressage has been the primary focus of a series of five 3-day clinics hosted by Jeff Wilson Western Dressage, Delhi, NY. The riders have learned how to take the principles of dressage and apply them to their Western style of riding… trail riding! The clinics have evolved from the first May clinic which introduced ground work to the riders with their horses in the arena, to succeeding clinics where the riders and horses took dressage maneuvers to the trail and applied them practically. Many trail rides were enjoyed in the beautiful NY Catskill Mountains throughout the summer, with the riders having learned WD techniques that would help keep them and their horses safe.

In August, Karen Meyers, co-founder of WDA of Minnesota, participated in the fifth clinic of the series with her new Morgan Mare, Black Willow Nasiriyah.  Elaine Ward, of Western Style Dressage of Canada also attended and brought her knowledge and expertise of the dressage arena and dressage tests.

Western Dressage of New YorkThe summer culminated in a September Western Dressage Schooling Conference, featuring Andrea Hunt and Jeff Wilson watching over and giving feedback to each rider.  Andrea, a SCDCTFA dressage certified judge, gave each rider an opportunity to measure the progress that they had made throughout the summer clinics with each rider riding a Western Dressage Test. The tests were very helpful in determining everyone’s future training needs.

If you are in the Northeast, plan to attend Equine Affaire in Springfield, MA (Nov. 8-11)!  NY Western Dressage will be well represented by Jeff Wilson Western Dressage. Lyn Palm and Jeff Wilson will be conducting Western Dressage seminars throughout the event.

Hello… All comments are approval first before they are visible so that spam is NOT published to our site. If your “long comment” was actually submitted I would find it here however I do not have it. I only have this comment you left telling us that you did submit one. If you would like to re-submit I would be more than happy to publish it after it has been approved. Thanks again for stopping by and we hope that you visit often. Regards, WDAA Online Support
