WDAA Announces Grant Program For High School And Collegiate Equestrian Teams

The Western Dressage Association of America is proud to announce a matching grant program to assist High School and Collegiate Equestrian teams who plan to travel to compete at the WDAA World Championship Horse Show in Tulsa, OK on November 6, 7, 8 2015.  This $1500 grant program has been made possible through the generous support of the United States Equestrian Federation and its Youth Sportsman’s program.

The High School and Collegiate Committee of WDAA has recommended the following criteria to the Executive Committee to guide the process of selecting a recipient or recipient teams.


  1. Team members must maintain a 2.5 GPA in their school/university. This will require a signed document from the university registrar or school official.
  2. Team members must submit their team budget. The budget should include the amount of matching money already secured and a projected budget for the World show.
  3. Team members will complete and submit a team application which includes riders and their WDAA membership numbers.
  4. Each team member will write and submit essay along with the application of 500 to 700 words to discuss at least four of the following:
    • Leadership: Examples of how you have provided leadership to others. Also include, how you expect the experience of competing at the World show will develop your leadership ability.
    • Sportsmanship and Professionalism:   Discuss the importance of good sportsmanship and how it contributes to your development and the development of your team. .
    • The horse industry: Outline how this experience will contribute to the horse industry in the future
    • Teaching others: Develop a plan for your team to provide education to others after the World show is completed.
    • Western Dressage Association of America: Promotion of the WDAA is import to the future of western dressage. Develop a plan for promotion of the WDAA.
    • After the World show: The team will submit one of the following to be used to promote the Youth and Collegiate division of western dressage. This will be shared and/or shown to others that have an interest in youth and collegiate competitions.

> An article to be shared with the WDAA board and members (include team pictures).
> A video blog of their journey to the world show.

    Very exciting program for our 4-H girls to strive for next year. Hope it is successful enough to offer again. Not sure we can pull it together this year.
