Lynn Shinkle

Lynn ShinkleLynn Shinkle knows she was born with that special equine DNA, you know, that something extra in a person that gives you the true love of all things “horsey”. Buying her first horse as a senior in high school after years of riding other peoples horses, she enjoyed that mare for four years until adult life got in the way. She always knew that she’d have horses in her life when the time was right. That time was more than 20 yrs later in Fort Worth, Texas. With her husband (now of 25 plus years) and two sons, Lynn enjoyed the ranch life with her horses. A special horse was born on that ranch, her home bred Arabian/Saddlebred (NSH) Bella. It is Bella that lead Lynn to western dressage. The family and farm relocated to Callahan, Florida, in 2008. After starting Bella as a 4 year old, Lynn wanted to show her, but in what? Reading about a brand new, exciting equine discipline called western dressage, Lynn knew she had found what she wanted to do! Six months later, Lynn & Bella were the first horse and rider duo to ride down center-line at her GMO, Northeast Florida Dressage Association (NFDA), testing in western dressage. Another honor was being the first president of WDAFL, the Florida affiliate, from 2013-2015.

Lynn has taken what she’s learned in western dressage and used that in the other events she rides with Bella and her other horse, Star, everything from trail riding and obstacle course challenges, to beach riding in northeast Florida.

Lynn continues to ride and both she and her horses are enjoying the journey!
