WDAA World Show in Tulsa OKMark your calendars for October 31, 2013-November 3, 2013!  Plan to join the Western Dressage Association® of America in Tulsa, Oklahoma for our Fourth Annual meeting and the first WDAA World Championship Horse Show which is open to all breeds.  The Embassy Suites in Tulsa will be the site of two days of meetings and round table discussions.  The World Championship show will be at the world class Built Ford Tough Livestock Arena at Expo Square.  WDAA is proud to host this event in conjunction with the Color Breed Congress and the Pinto Horse Association.

The World Show will feature classes at each test level, Introductory through Level 2, and will also offer Western Dressage Freestyle tests.  Awards include a custom made Western Dressage saddle designed and built by Mike Corcoran for the horse and rider combination with the highest combined score.  In addition to ribbons, exhibitors will win custom Western Dressage belt buckles for the high score youth, the high score amateur/non pro and the high score open.

WDAA members are encouraged to travel to Tulsa early for the organization’s fourth Annual Convention which starts on October 31. Thanks to ‘Early Bird Specials’ on stalling, individuals attending the World Show with horses can join in the festivities!  These exhibitors are encouraged to contact the Pinto Horse Association office via email at khall@pinto.org for details.

The WDAA annual meeting offers members an opportunity to learn more about Western Dressage from a wide variety of experts; to network with Western Dressage folks from all over the country; to have first-hand input in guiding the development and direction of this wonderful new discipline which is now the USEF Recognized National Affiliate for Western Dressage.  Don’t miss a great meeting and a great time in Tulsa!

I went from Ocala, FL with my horse Rapped N’ Painted a Palomino/Paint gelding to the first WDAA World Championship Show in Tulsa, OK held November 2 and 3, 2013. The officials were friendly and helpful, the Arena great with good footing and the Judge Debbie Rodriguez, excellent. The stalls and facilities were good and the weather better than expected. It was a challenging learning experience and the beginning of my journey in Western Dressage. It was the thrill of a lifetime for my horse and me! Thank you, WDAA!

I am extremely excited for the WDAA. I have followed the topics and information for months concerning western dressage. As an avid rider, I love new challenges and experiences; and this is just what Kentucky needs. It is obvious the derby, classical dressage, jumping, pacing, etc. can be seen here but, western dressage is a disciplined skill that riders would love to be challenged with here. In addition, our surrounding states have riders who come to Kentucky for shows and trails so what a great opportunity it would be to have clinics come to Kentucky and western dressage shows. It would be a dream come true, as the Lord wills someday. May God bless the WDAA and prosper it.
