Discover Western Dressage Symposium is Huge Success

Earlier this month, Palm Partnership Training teamed with the Western Dressage Association of Florida to offer Discover Western Dressage, a two day Symposium comprised of theory sessions, question and answer, discussion and live demonstrations. Lynn Palm and Cyril Pittion-Rossillon, along with USDF L Grad and USDF Bronze Medalist, Karen Abbattista, delivered a dynamic two days to professionals from Ontario, Nova Scotia, Georgia, Florida and many places in between. This Symposium was a successful follow up to the inaugural event in the fall of 2014 with participants from New Zealand, Washington, Minnesota, Georgia and Florida.

The group enjoyed the theory of the progression of Western Dressage and studying the fundamentals for horse and rider training. During demonstrations they observed desirable and undesirable gaits, properly ridden arena figures, lateral movements and the art of riding with accuracy. When it came to the competition portion, segments and collective marks were scored and remarked upon from a judge’s point of view.

While the professionals received a wealth of information for instructing, training, coaching and judging western dressage to take home to their own businesses, there is a need for a Part 2 to the Symposium. Each of the participants rated the Symposium a 10 and requested a Part 2 which will take place in 2016. One professional raved, “Comprehensive bottom up explanation of concepts. Very open forum with all questions answered. Excellent hospitality!”

Those who have completed the Discover Western Dressage Symposium will be listed on the Western Dressage Association of Florida’s website. The fall Symposium is October 19-20 at Fox Grove Farm following Palm Partnership Training’s Western Dressage Clinic and Competition October 16-18.
