Amazing Few Days for the Texas TTT Clinic

Jim-a-Dee Ranch was blessed with the opportunity to host the first Texas Train the Trainers clinic in mid-June of this year. We had a magnificent turn out that included folks from all over the US and even one Canadian dropped in to join us. Each and every one was a delight and so much fun to meet and get to know. On Tuesday night we had a social so that everyone who had made the trek could unwind and meet the others and the clinicians. It proved to be a wonderful break-the-ice gathering so that the first day of class wasn’t quite so stressful.

The classroom session was held in the Carriage House so there was a lot of tack hanging around and some antique carriages about but we managed to have room for everyone. Of course, each afternoon everyone, with chairs in hand, made the journey across the parking lot to the covered arena to observe the demo riders interact with the clinicians, Cliff Swanson and Frances Carbonnel.

And, the dreaded Texas summer heat abated just for us. There was always a nice breeze and the days were not blistering, but instead, most pleasant. We even had a “gully-washer” the last afternoon of the clinic, which proved dampening but cooling, nonetheless.

I think the peace d’resistance was the Wednesday evening Fiesta. We all gathered in the ODK (outdoor kitchen) for fajitas, guacamole, frijoles, arroz, tortillas and Margaritas. No visit to Texas is complete without a Fiesta. We were surprised by a 5-piece Mariachi band, which entertained us in true Mexican regalia. They were supposed to play for an hour, but so many folks “got in the grove” that they stayed for 2 hours. Many had never seen a Mariachi band before but fun was had by all.

It was an amazing few days for those of us at Jim-a-Dee. The time just seemed to fly by and we were having so much fun it was a shame it had to end so soon. The experience for us was momentous and we hope everyone had as great a time as we did. New BFF’s
